In The News: Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital electronic records system go live on Saturday
NEWSWIRE: November 2, 2016
DATELINE: Weston, West Virginia
On Saturday, November 5th 2016, Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, West Virginia will be switching to a electronic records system to better serve the patients of the hospital and all its affiliated clinics.
“It will connect all hospital physician offices, hospital departments, pharmacy, and most importantly, the community,” said Bill Arnold, project manager with Atlanticon, a consulting firm implementing ‘Care Connect.’ “There will be a single patient portal to access health records, request appointments and pay bills.”
“Cerner, the international software vendor, will combine 13 other systems currently in use and the hospital will begin using it Saturday,” Arnold said. “It’s going to allow the hospital to track patients’ visits to the clinics, emergency room and hospital and putting all the information into one location.”
It will have a Population Health feature that will allow hospitals to track patients with certain diagnoses so clinicians can identify what they need to keep them healthy and proactively work with patients for routine exams and checkups, which will help prevent future problems.
It has been a lengthy process, taking about 10 months to implement the new system. Care Connect Center located in the parking lot of the hospital has provided ample training space for all employees to learn the new system.
